The yankees bats got shut down again today as they lost another series on the road 2-1 to the white sox. I'm not even coming close to enjoying watching them right now. As i write this the yanks stand 9.5 games out behind red sox.
thoughtssss
1. Roger starts minor league game friday. Everybody who knows anything about baseball has analyzed this signing and determined the yanks vastly overpaid for his services... does it really matter when a sports team is worth 1 BILLION dollars...... no it doesn't... Especially in a world where abreu makes 14 million a year to be a no power, older, slower outfield who completely forgot hot to hit.
2. Giambi is back but doesn't look great, we really need hm to propel middle of the order
3. arod still sux
4. jeter and posada seem to be only yankees that care
5. our pitchin has improved.. slightly with moose and wang takin their turns... but all the sudden we can't hit
6 Robinson who??? cano looks so bad right now with a horrible walk rate and an even worse strikeout rate he really might get sent back down to the minors.. that's right, the cano who finished at .340 last year and challenged for rookie of year... scouts have found a hole inside on him... plus he swings at everything thrown up there...
7. matsui is a slugger right??? like he did hit homers before, and especially in those japanese parks???? he's really lost it since the injury last year.
8. biggest positive of the past week.... wang looked incredible last night and moose cam back to give us six yesterday too so those 2 need to be back healthy rest of the year.
we go to mets this weekend, we'll lose 2 out of 3 easily...
interleague play is exciting though and i'll be betting heavily.

Yankees need a win....
Losing 2 games over 162 isn't that bad, losing three can start a losing streak. Especially when the yankees are @ seattle the next two and then at the hot hittin white sox for three. They could easily lose 4 of the next 6 which brings us to tongight.
Desavlo or whoever starts for us tonight but he did give us innings is what this team i believe needs more than anything now.
Things to watch
1. If we get 6 innings out of desalvo that gives us nice momentum into rubber game tomorrrow. I expect pettite to be tough tomorrow on the mariners bats.
2. Offense needs to punish Batista tonight. The bats having taken last few games off so it would be nice to see some early runs.
3. arod is screwed again. unbelievable how he Can go from lookin unhuman to human in the last month.
4. will abreu ever hit another homer, he's not even driving ball anywhere close to the fence?
5. giambi back tonight from bone spurs, need him to keep hot bat going that he left off.
Not sure on bet at all.
Side note- spurs at home tonight vs. suns, i like spurs but didn't bet yet, leading in first qtr

Yankees vs. rangers
Yanks come in as heavy 2-1 favs with pettite on the hill against a roookie starter taking millowood's place. yanks have won 9 in a row against rangers and they should win tonight. I look for high scoring game as weather is warming up and both of these offenses can break out.
couple thoughts-
1. Yankees need to move abreu down in the lineup. The 250 average and 336. obp which is 75 points below his career mark aren't cutting it. Yanks can totally move up matsui or giambi and wait till bobby gets hot but he's an auto out right now.
2. we got great start from desalvo last night. we did get screwed on a blown call from 2nd base up or we wouldn't have lost i don't believe. desalvo looked like the inning eater sinkerballer we desperately need to fill in.
3. It would be nice to see pettite go at least 7 innings ton. he has only been going about six till he hits the 100 pitch mark.
I like over 11 in this game, ball should be hit around everywhere.

Van Gundy out in H-town?
Story out of ny says rockets and coach may part ways, my thoughts.
1. Not sure who else they might think could do better than vg with this inconsistent team. They had bad injury probs last 2-3 years and he's done ok.
2. i think with the success of the suns/mavs/warriors here lately with up-tempo games more and more gm's may be looking to move this direction.
3. vg defense first philosphy is great but we need more consistent scoring. With the athletes on this team they should be pushing the ball more. They shoot tons of threes but i'd rather see them looking to push and drive more.
4. I do like that the rockets want to shake things up. The western conference is so good and gettin better (warriors/jazz) the current rockets roster has not been past first round and that's simply not exceptable. I think all players should be considered when discussing trades except yao. he played his heart out last night and will continue to dominate nba centers for years but he needs more help scoring. TMAC has been to much pass conscious i think lately. he's a max player with unbelievable skills, take it to the damn hole and draw a foul, double team, anything before u pass all the time. There's a reason scorers get big money and dish masters make less. tmac is being paid to score 30 plus in big games and pass some but not first....
TMAC really let his team down last night i thought. In the closing seconds he was not pushing the ball to the hole and making the jazz stop his penetration before he passed. He was just dumping ball to yao or passing on the perimeter. His legacy continues to be worse in his playoff record. I luv the guy but it's sad to see him not taking more of the 4th quarter shots.

Rocket Launch in the Bronx!
I knew the yankees would make serious play for roger, but not this soon. After the big boss made a statement last week that he would do "everything in his power" to help the yanks, he did what he always generously does. He Wrote the bigger check than his competitors were willing to do to help out his franchise.
Roger will earn apporx 4.5 mill per month for the rest of the 07 season. Some thoughts
1. I think yankees may have over paid by quite a bit here, but who cares it's not my money. The red sox have 100 million in a pitcher from japan who has been inconsistent so far. Obviously the astros will continue their cheap ways and let great players go. The reason for the overpayment and acceleration of clemens timetable is obvious.... Yankees are struggling and need help asap to get back on course
2. I think just the presence of clemens can make yanks pitchin better. barring injury, he will eat some innings up and keep the offense in the game. He can also have huge impact on wang and hughes and some of the younger guys. biggest thing is his toughness he brings to the table which yanks sorely need right now. Over the weekend they showed some toughnees against the mariners and i think it's not a coincidence we're winning more this past week.
3. He's 45 in august- clemens again ventures into unknown territory in mlb history to be prime performer at an age past 40. He has always broken through age barriers successfully and i'm sure he will again.
4. I still think yankees need to add another reliever or two to this current roster by being willing to let go of one of their hitters. cabrera or abreu would be top trade candidates in my book.
-Yankees look for series win and takin 3 of 4 from a lowly mariners club tomorrow as they run out their 11th new starter this season. reports on the new guy is he's tore up triple A this year as he's been dominant with heavy sinker. We need innings right now so 6-7 from new guy should be consider success.
Line- they are favs tom (-150) so looks like vegas thinks everyone is going to try betting a streaking yanks team. O/u is 11.

Rockets and warriors games
Rockets go to utah for game six tonight and they're underdogs by 5. i think the jazz will win tonight and we'll take the series at home over the weekend which is fine.
this jazz team plays with incredible heart and they're front line is huge and they shoot very well from the outside. This has been a battle so far so stay tuned.
warriors- they're getting 2.5 at home which is very tempting. I just don't see the mavs winning in oakland. I will play small on the warriors tonight and hope for another dallas meltdown.

Let's play two!
Today is good day for yankees to sweep series against rangers. as i write this entry we're up 3-2 end of the sixth in game 1.
Excited to see how moose looks tonight. if we can get 6 injury free innings out of him and another win tonight that would be GREAT!
i don't have my hopes up too much though as this season has been so bad so far.
Notes- giambi has a homer today and is batting .326, nice to see him going again. i watched the game on tuesday and he had 3 deep flyouts to center and he looked like his timing was coming back.
- matsui and damon both have rbi's today and we really need both of them to get back to 06 form fast.
- if we can get these games in texas we're headin back home against a lowly mariners club so we could put a badly needed streak together. we also will miss king felix which is great so here's hoping.
Line- yankees were favored heavy in the series and both games which is no surprise as we traditionally dominate texas.

No Trap here boys!
Well the warriors covered by three last night as they lost by six to the mavs. So much for the trap of the century game. The warriors showed heart to come back from 21 down to take the lead in the 4th quarter only to make some real bad decisions and let the mavs close the game on a 15-0 run. vegas lost big on the game and I'm glad because 9 points was just too much
I would like to continue and follow these alleged trap games and see how joe public actually fares
- Only play I really like tonight is the over in the yanks game (10). tejada vs. pettitte in arlington.... sounds like runs!!!

Vegas dreaded Trap alive and well?
I'm takin my huge wins by brew crew amd nets and putting htem all on warriors. what do warroirs do, come on flat and go down by 13 in mid second quarter. Everyone is sayin no mavs are play tonight but wait...
how can u lay 9 points to a team u've gotten killed by all year???
maybe because mavs are one of the best teams in bball
I hear a lot about traps and most people are on the warriors and it looks awful now. A money angle is nba wants this series back to warrs and so does GS so they may lay an egg tonight and just wait for their home game.
that angle looks dead on right now. 18 point lead at 6 min 2nd qtr mark.....
this suxxxxxxxxx

May day for yanks
As i write this i'm enjoying the yankees dismantling the rangers 9-0 in arlington. About thirty minutes after i write this, hughes leaves with leg problem. this is comical or what? A couple thoughts
1. Best thing for a team struggling is to go on the road and get away i think.
2. rangers pitching sux and ours actually doesn't tonight.
3. after the worst april i can remember in 15 years for yankees, i really had to check myself when i heard the following, 95% of teams 4 games or more under .500 after april have NOT made the playoffs. Yankees are 9-14 to end the month.
The yankees will not make playoffs this year, that's the bottom line. Unless the red sox compeltely fall apart with their pitchin we're done for sure. i havent thought the yankees weren't actually a playoff team until wathcin them this year.
They play with no heart at all. They ALL look like they're going through te motions. Big money and talent will get u far, but heart comes into play when the competition becomes it fierciest i really believ that. red sox, tigers, angels, indinas, white sox have talent and big hearts to match.
So to look on brightside I would luv to turn back to this page in a month and see how wrong i was. For fun, i will list some of their team stats and indiv stats i think are notable and we'll check back periodically to see how these trends play out.
Some stats-
Pitching- Yankees team 3rd worst in era AL, 3rd most BB, 2 least SO, Most appearances by a reliever
Not only are we given up hits, but walking people at an alarming rate
Batting- 1st in runs, 3 in OBP
Obviously offense has been as advertised
Individuals-
Arod- .415 obp, 14 Hr's- making all defensive plays, contract year?
Jeter- +.400 obp, .344 BA- fielding improving as month went on
Giambi- +.400 obp, 4 HR- started very slow coming on
Posada- .311 BA- been great
matsui- good to be back .371 obp
Cano- .270 and rising
abreu- 250 ba, couldnt have been worse
damon- 229- hurt early give him a month
1B- is an abyss, good defensively?
here's some good news when we don't make playoffs
1. we get to see the real arod..... i don't care either way but boras and him are already calculating what they can make in december.
2. Cashman and/or torre are gone which i think is due
3. All we draft/scout/free agent is pitchin from now on. bottom line. we have enough young hitting now to l;ast at least five years
4. maybe we can bring in a character guy to shake up this emotionless clubhouse.
5. Let's go get zambrano and another big-name free agent pitcher with abreu's money we will have extra and what a predict will be an arod'less team. That's 40 million a year in good starting pitchin, i like it
